SEGAWelcome to the SEGA page, and as always "Welcome to the Next Level" SEGA has been around for longer than you think! The name, the company, everything, started way back in the 1950's! SEGA's name derived from a small company called "SErvice GAmes." At the time Service Games was specializing in the import, sale, operation and development of jukeboxes and coin operated game machines. By 1965, Service Games merged with Rosen Enterprises, Ltd. to become SEGA Enterprises Japan. From there SEGA continued to expand rapidly. SEGA had a mission: Provide the world with the latest in electric games. By the early 1980's, SEGA had released the Master System. By the 1990's, SEGA was well known for it's 16-Bit Genesis. As time went on the demand for new and sophisticated machines grew. SEGA developed many other systems to keep up with everyone. SEGA came out with the SEGA CD, 32X, and also the SEGA Saturn. In 1999 there was a BIG marketing campaign for their newest system, the SEGA DREAMCAST... SEGA has always been a leader in Interactive Gameplay and Technology. It'll be interesting to see what SEGA will do next... |
